Herpes is a kind of viral infection. There are two herpes simplex viruses. Herpes Simplex type 1 (HSV-1) and Herpes Simplex type 2 (HSV-2). These viruses however look identical under microscope and both are capable of infecting mouth and genitals. Though the immune system of the body fights back against this menace, gradually the battle grows intense and as a result there are heavy losses by both the herpes virus and the immune system.
